Drumadics, rythmic show of urban street sounds fused
with Afro Centric highlights and poetic narration.
theatrical experience of the world's beats. Featuring
drummers from across the globe, "Drumadics" merges
the urban sounds of New York City bucket drumming
with the tribal beats of the djembe, tabla and other
traditional drums. Accompanied by a string orchestra,
and a full cast of international dancers and poets, this
show bursts through the boundaries of contemporary
musical and theatrical genres by celebrating the way
seemingly disparate styles of music and movement break
into each other. The result is deep, explosive and
edge-of-your-seat unforgettable.
The goal of "Drumadics" is to take the audience on a
journey through the development of musical forms
through time and distance to illuminate the connections
between cultures and celebrate the diversity between and
within them. Creator/Director William B. Johnson has
created a show and chosen a cast that crystallizes the raw
energy of urban performers while maintaining the
polished delivery of seasoned artists.
