| Interesting story i have to tell you..... It started out when I made arrangements with one of the homeless people I met, Al, great guy. He sure is different and its been a great experience to hear from him and other homeless about Freedom and Respect . I was also supposed to meet a friend of mine to catch up. These were my plans. I didn't know how drastic my direction would flow that evening. That day I went to work (like every other day). I saw an event posted on our employee website. I was surprised to see it. Usually they don't advertise things like that. The Summer Concert Series had started. The best ones are downtown. Listed was The Super Furry Animals playing that day at Pier17 which is within walking distance from were I work. The description of the band was fascinating. I wanted to see them, but I had already made other engagements for the evening. Nevertheless, I printed it out anyway. That evening when I left, I found the subway was suspended. I couldn't believe it. This *(&*&*%# really gets on my nerves-- NYC subways! It was raining all day and it had flooded. I was not going to go with hundreds of people to find a way uptown. So I left and went to Pier 17. When I called Al, he wasn't really up to for a photo shoot since he was all wet and he didn't mind that I cancelled. (A homeless man with a cell phone and a photo shoot...ONLY IN NEW YORK!). The other friend of mine couldn't come down in this mess. No more engagements. I was all set and happy. I thought to myself, well that's it tonight.. If SFA sucks, I'll just go home. I introduced myself to a couple of people. One of them was Gary from Scotland, good people. He is traveling around the World and whenever SFA plays somewhere, if he happens to be in the area, he will go to the concert. He seemed to be a part of the SFA family. I asked him where his camera was. He said its broken at the moment. Nice, I said, what a coincidence, I have my camera with me. Later I ask him if he would send me some of his pictures, since I wasn't quite sure how my pictures would come out since it was a terrible-weather-type setting. Well, Gary if you read this I am not done with this page. I'm waiting for your incredible pictures. I will make an extra blend in of your pictures. Anyway, Gary asked me to go on the bus, since it was raining and so I ended up on the bus with SFA I must say it was a cool time. I wasn't quite sure who all these people were and they had no idea about what I was doing there with a camera. Was I from a magazine? - no. Was I from a paper? - no. I told them I do my own thing. They seemed to like the idea of TuneCards. So I was happy and was taking pictures on the bus. I love behind the scene pictures, its a part of the package, so everybody is included on The Great Team. Including other musicians that came. Later I found out that they are really popular in England. They do have great music. Plus they have a new CD out with an extra DVD you can buy. They do still pictures, like i do. Very unique. I like them. It was raining outside on and off. SFA couldn't start right at 7 PM so we hung out on the bus for an hour until they finally started. Hundreds of fans were waiting for them out in the rain for an hour. It was great. SFA started to play about 2 songs when they had to get off stage due to rain. Gruff the singer took his guitar and jumped off the stage and started playing solo right in front of the fans. Plus Wendy Flower was there and sang a song with Gruff. I think this was the best concert . After I left. They continued partying with their fans who had waited so long out in the rain to hear them. On my way home I sat beside Ben (to your right), a homeless, great encounter. We had a Ziggi together. After all, it all worked out... Homeless and all Shine to SFA Team, Wendy, Gary and Ben. I enjoyed your company. PEACE |
